Prevent and Nourish Dry Skin: Tips To Keep Your Skin Glowing and Supple This Winter

Winter is here and my face is feeling dry and hands are chapped. How does a girl keep her skin hydrated without breaking the bank? It has been recommended to see a specialist or the Derm for products that will combat dry skin but what if you don't have time to go to the Derm or the money to see a specialist. Not only is the appointment costly, the products that are prescribed or recommended are an investment. Let's be clear, our skin is always an investment and cutting corners is not an option; however, there have to be products in the market that hydrate without compromising quality. Here are a few tips and options to keep your skin looking beautiful this winter without breaking the bank. The best part is they are accessible and natural.

Prevent Dry Skin:
  • Use lukewarm-warm water when washing your face and showering. Hot water will dry your skin out quicker.
  • Exfoliate weekly with a body scrub. Exfoliated skin will absorb moisturizer better than skin covered in dead skin cells.
  • Moisturize after every shower or bath.
  • Carry hand cream in your handbag and use after every hand wash.
Nourish Dry Skin:

1) Avocado mask: This is as simple as it gets. Avocado oil is non-clogging and Tie your hair back away from your face and remove all makeup form the skin and the eyes. In a small bowl, smash up an avocado
2) Make your own "Moisturizing Deep Treatment" by slathering on a thick or heavier moisturizer on your hands and feet. Wrap in saran wrap and put on a pair of gloves/socks. Allow to sit for 20-30 minutes for maximum effects.
