I was watching the news this morning and caught a clip of a segment on whether or not you should ask for a raise and how you should go about it. They had interviewed three business owners or upper level management for their perspective on employees asking for raises and one response was that you may be at the top of your pay scale for that position and a raise is not an option.

If you are at the top of your pay scale, a promotion, an alternate position or a new company may be the answer. But before you make any decisions, do your homework. I really enjoyed this segment and found it very interesting. They provided these two websites to calculate your experience, education and details of the position to help you get an idea if your pay is trending with your specific area. Give it a try and see, it's a fun exercise. I completed the first one and am trending right on course.
