Free iPhone App: What's On My Food?

I found a great iPhone application that is very helpful and accessible. As you may remember, I wrote about the "Dirty Dozen" fruits and vegetables back in February. These have higher levels of pesticides in them and should be swapped out for organic when available. I have included a list of the them below for your reference. Here is another great article with additional information from The Good Human.

Why is this important and how does this apply to you?
  • Breast Cancer: Learn which pesticides that have been linked to this and other cancers.
  • Reproductive Health: If you plan on having a family, become aware of known pesticides that are hormone disruptors that can alter your dream.
  • Brain Development in Children: Learn which toxins are linked to ADD and other neurological problems in children.

It's called What's On My Food. You can go to their website to find out what's on your food and read more information on pesticides. It's great to have and is free. You can access it in seconds while you are shopping protecting yourself and your family from harm.

They get their information from the USDA Pesticide Data Program and break it down into four categories and percentages of each:
       1) Known or Probable Carcinogens
       2) Hormone Disruptors
       3) Neurotoxins
       4) Developmental or reproductive toxicants
