Kimberlee's 4th of July Pick: All American Girl!

As the stars and stripes of the American Flags wave proudly in every neighborhood across the country and BBQ grills are at full flare. I feel especially patriotic as the excitement of Independence Day approaches.  What I love about Independence Day is that it is a pure celebration of all things charismatically American.  Hot Rods are coming out to see the light of day, ice cream trucks and lemonade stands are in no shortage, and fashion is suddenly abounding with elements of masculine brawn and curvaceous femininity combined with good old All-American denim.

One of my favorite representations of these fashion elements incorporated into one timeless piece is the Ella Shirt Dress in Light Blue Denim from Alloy. Light as a feather and 100% cotton, this fabric is impressively cool and breathable for the warm summer months. The cut is just loose enough to create an alluring silhouette, and the design screams “I stole this from my boyfriend, and added pumps.”  What on earth could possibly embody femininity more than that?  The light blue denim fabric is perfectly patriotic, and when paired with the Kushin square heeled pump from Spring Shoes in a shade of red that looks like they were kissed by Marilyn Monroe herself…well, watch out for the fireworks!

I added an opera length Swarovski Crystal wrap necklace in All American from Zahava Designs to my decolletage to pay tribute to the 4th of July with truly glamorous style.

Sparkler, burger, and lemonade in hand, Happy Birthday America… I like your style!

Fashionista Tip:
Shirt Dresses are fantastic, but not when the buttons are popping.  Be sure that you are shopping to fit the largest part of your body, and then add a wide or skinny belt if you find it to be too loose in the middle.  Don’t size down, it will not give you the curvaceous and alluring silhouette you are looking for.
