Even Supermodels Wear T-Shirts: Kimberlee's Pick of the Week

Basics are the essential building blocks to EVERY wardrobe. I don’t care if you are a working single mother of 2 or the infamous Heidi Klum, you must first have your basics in order to build the "wardrobic" empire. Every woman’s foundation needs to include at least a core handful of simple, cotton, ultra comfortable and “easy to incorporate with anything” pieces in their closet…on a Sunday afternoon, even supermodels wear t-shirts.

Just because basics are, well BASIC, does not mean that they can’t look positively fantastic on you when chosen well. Basics should be purchased as high in quality as you can afford so that they last forever, hold their shape, and keep you comfortably fashionable season after season.

My personal favorite basic pieces have always come from the Gap, and the coming fall season’s selections are with no exception. With my Give & Get offer in hand, I managed to purchase some really wonderful basic pieces for 30% off, and Gap thanked me by giving 5% of my total purchases to starving children in my honor. This may be the best deal I have taken advantage of, EVER. If you were not one of the fortunate shoppers to receive this promotion from the Gap this year, I highly suggest that you sign up for their emails so that you can Give & Get with the world next time around.

My top five basics for the fall season include these must have wardrobe building blocks:

The Burnout T (on left)

Heavenly soft and ultra feminine cotton with an edgy rock-star burnout look, an “almost a tunic” length hem, and contrast stitching make this t-shirt the perfect choice to pair with skinny jeans and boots.

The Dolman T
(on right)

Absolutely the most polished t-shirt to be found. The cotton/modal blend creates a dreamy soft feel, combined with a ¾ length dolman sleeve and graceful float in the cut that creates enough visual interest to keep you looking basically beautiful.

The Button-detail Boatneck T (on left)

A long sleeve t-shirt, with a subtle detail at the shoulder lending a totally stylish, semi-military vibe.

The Cowlneck T (on right)

The perfect example of a day to night to weekend t-shirt. The cowl neck drape is ultra flattering, the sleeve has a loose opening to flatter vs. inflate the upper arm, and the fit is absolutely gorgeous. Black pants, great denim, or skinny cargos…this t-shirt will glam them all.

The Cascading Ruffles T(on left)

Every woman needs a white t-shirt in her wardrobe, one that does not come from a neatly packaged “bundle” of 6. This white t-shirt from Gap features a delicately designed bib of cascading ruffles lending a feminine air to this basic piece.

***Sugar Lips Shopping Tip: The color selection in these styles is far more generous in the stores that it appears to be online. I highly suggest that before you make your purchase, you take a field trip to your local Gap to get up close and personal with their military greens, deep plums, midnight blues, and more. Love, love love.
