What a beautiful ceremony and an incredible event! I cried at the sight of her. A rush of emotion came over me to stand witness to the little boy we all watched grow up in the public eye take his Bride-to-be in front of the entire world. She has such poise and grace reminding me of Princess Diana on her wedding day and I am sure that she is beaming with pride from above. As I was watching the broadcast, the announcers called Kate a "commoner" but their is nothing common about her. At 29 years of age, she is the first college educated bride to accept the royal honor. She has demonstrated her inner royalty far before today.
Her Designer, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, was a brilliant choice as his legacy lives on through her work. Kate's choice to procure her Designer and materials from local resources demonstrates social and economical consciousnesses. Talented individuals from all over the United Kingdom united to display fine British craftsmanship. The dress was made from ivory and white satin gazar with hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace. She has chosen to combine modern with traditional design resulting in a classic, clean elegant dress with 58 buttons down the back. The skirt and bodice were hand-made by The Royal School of Needlework.
Her veil was also hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework with a trim of flowers. Her Cartier "halo" tiara, designed in 1936, was lent to her by The Queen which was presented to her on her 18th birthday by her Mother. Kate's earrings were given to her by her parents and designed by Robinson Pelham. His inspiration came from the Middleton Family's new coat of arms.
